Here’s a tutorial on making your own makeup removers!
***Due to the lack of preservatives, I recommend making these in small batches***
My Personal Recipe - Oil Based Makeup Remover (for waterproof makeup)
This is also a great skin moisturizer!
Ingredients:
1 Tsp. Pure Glycerin
3 Tsp. Distilled Water
4 Tsp. Mineral Oil (I used Baby Oil but I plan to try other options such as Olive, Jojoba, and avocado Oil)
Optional: 1 Capsule of Vitamin E (if using, perhaps use 1/2 tsp less of the oil)
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a sanitized bottle and shake before each use.
Water Based (Recipe found on the internet)
1 Tsp. Baby Shampoo
3 Tsp. Distilled Water
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a sanitized bottle and shake before each use.

I wouldn’t suggest it. The reason for using baby shampoo is because of how gentle it is. Go get the sample bottles. I think they are like $.99 and you can make several batches!

Tahnks for the great idea. It is non-toxic and youcould use organic oil and glycerine! Also, you could use organic cotton pads (normal cotton production is very harmful to the Earth). Thanks!!!

what if you don’t have glycrin?
will that STILL work?

oh good to know that - thanks! I have dry skin and I mainly use it to remove eye makeup so I don’t break out from it. I use a face cleanser after too perhaps that helps.

I used the oil based one, and it removed my makeup REALLY well, but even after removing the oil from my face, I broke out the next day. I don’t reccommend the Oil-Based for anyone who is prone to acne at All =)

I would have to say no if you plan to use it for more than 1 day. Because distilled water is pure water, it doesn’t contain any on impurities (lead, chlorine, etc) in tap water. If you must use tap water, do it in tiny tiny batches meaning enough for max of 2 uses. Better yet, filter or boil the water for a few minutes. Tap water contains minerals that build up over time so 1 or 2 days max if using tap water for these recipes.

is it ok if i use plain tap water?

no, it actually doesn’t but it does foam up in the bottle. Just make sure you have the correct ratio. I have it in a spray bottle so when I use it, I spray it on a cotton ball then smooth the cotton ball on my skin. It’s good so far…removes my eye makeup.
