Picture of avocado

The average calorie content of avocado is about 200 calories per 125 grams. That might sound like a lot but lets take a look at the bigger picture for a minute. Lets look at more than just the calories in avocado.

Avocado has been labeled by some as one of the most nutritious of all fruits, a nutrient booster of sorts. The high potassium content being good for blood pressure regulation and helps against strokes and heart disease. It promotes the absorption of carotenoids that are known for their cancer fighting properties.

Because of the avocado’s high content of mono and polyunsaturated fat, the avocado makes for a good substitute for other not so healthy foods with a high fat content. It has been known to dampen cravings for foods that contain saturated fats and is exceptionally beneficial for your skin.

Avocados can help fight depression and fatigue. This is because of the potassium content of this amazing fruit. Potassium also makes for supple, hydrated skin and if you combine that along with the vitamin E content, great for a healthy, beautiful complection.

Avocado is not a magical weight-loss fruit but should help many people get through some of the less-yummy diets. One can even substitute margarine or make a healthy snack that can be eaten daily in small portions with definite health benefits. Besides containing antioxidants and even being good for the eyes, its also perfect for babies.

Avocado is an all round good food and you shouldn’t be breaking your head on the amount of calories in avocado.

I couldn’t help to notice how many people are asking about the amount of calories in small avocado. There is a really easy answer to this question.

What do we know? If you read one of my earlier posts about calories in avocado then you should know that on average there are about 200 calories in every 125 grams of ripe avocado meat.

The rest is simple math, use a kitchen scale to weight your avocado (remember to peel or scoop the meat out first) without the seed. You should get about 1.6 calories per gram.
